My research is in the field of modern and contemporary French thought, particularly in relation to theology, atheism, humanity and ecology.

I have published on Jean-Luc Nancy, Paul Ricœur, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Alain Badiou, Quentin Meillassoux and Jacques Rancière, and in addition I have a particular interest in the thought of Bruno Latour and Michel Serres.

Current monograph projects

I have recently finished a book  considering the different figures of humanity that emerge in the thought of Alain Badiou, Quentin Meillassoux, Catherine Malabou, Michel Serres and Bruno Latour.

My current project is to write the first comprehensive scholarly introduction to the thought of Michel Serres in English.

  1. Hello Dr. Watkin,

Could you please send the table of contents for your upcoming book “Thinking through Creation?” My dissertation was built on a linguistic analysis of the creation story and I’m interested in how you may approach the narrative. Thank you for your consideration!
